Echinoderms

ABOUT ECHINODERMS
Echinoderms are a group of marine invertebrates made up of by animals such as Sea Cucumber, Sea Stars and Urchins. They can be found on the sea bed from shallows all the way to the deep ocean. They are classified by their unique ossified skeletons, their ability to reproduce without a mate (asexually) and their powerful regenerative properties. These animals are typically slow moving, and lack any higher intelligence and as such would be popular prey items for larger animals and as such usually develop several unique defence mechanisms to ward off potential predators.
Below you will find a comprehensive list of all the Echinoderms I have found in the wild in and around the Whyalla region.
Brick Red Sea Star
Anthaster valvulatus
